The Air Jordan 9 Shoes was released in 1993 shortly following the announcement of Jordan's retirement.On October 6th 1993, Jordan gave the basketball world a shock when he announced his retirement from the NBA. This was just one day before training camp and it was not what anyone had expected at this time. The greatest basketball player of all time retiring at the age of 30. A decision probably affected by the fact that his father was murdered in North Carolina in the summer of 1993 just before he won his third championship.The shoe being released was plain and sturdy and was the first model that Michael did not wear in an NBA seasonal game (due to the retirement). The sole had lots of details and a large 23 was stitched at the back of the shoe.The Air Jordan 9 has been the shoe chosen to adorn Jordan's feet for his statue outside of the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.In popular culture, in the children's movie The Little Rascals one of the bullies, Butch is wearing a pair of Air Jordan IX.American Rap Icon Tupac Shakur was also known to wear Air Jordan Shoes in a popular "Thug Life" photo set in 1993.

Well these shoes are really comfortable You can walk and walk for hours and you won't feel the pain you feel with other shoes Over all a great shoe the only downside for me was that the material on the side of the shoe which looks like lace began to tear after a few days I sent them back and ThumbTrade helped me out Can't complain I would have kept them if they would have been constructed a bit better Overall an excellent comfort shoe!
