The Air Jordan 9 Shoes was released in 1993 shortly following the announcement of Jordan's retirement. On October 6th 1993, Jordan gave the basketball world a shock when he announced his retirement from the NBA. This was just one day before training camp and it was not what anyone had expected at this time. The greatest basketball player of all time retiring at the age of 30. A decision probably affected by the fact that his father was murdered in North Carolina in the summer of 1993 just before he won his third championship. The shoe being released was plain and sturdy and was the first model that Michael did not wear in an NBA seasonal game (due to the retirement). The sole had lots of details and a large 23 was stitched at the back of the shoe. The Air Jordan 9 has been the shoe chosen to adorn Jordan's feet for his statue outside of the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. In popular culture, in the children's movie The Little Rascals one of the bullies, Butch is wearing a pair of Air Jordan IX.American Rap Icon Tupac Shakur was also known to wear Air Jordan Shoes in a popular "Thug Life" photo set in 1993.

Really cute
But my son's feet have never been able to fit into the toe piece
Entirely too tight a squeeze for the littlest guys (3 and under)

I love these shoes! I'm constantly on my feet on a super-hard floor (tile on a concrete slab)
I have these in all three colors and
since it's summer
wear them very comfortably without socks
I especially love the Vibram soles that absorb so much impact
I've been wearing Merrells for years and have all sorts of styles
from the open-backs to the shearling-lined boots
and love them all
This style is no exception; quality all the way! Also
thanks to ThumbTrade for impeccable customer service!

Very disappointing
I warily ordered the boot in W because calf width was tied to shoe width
which just did not work out
I doubt even an insert would have made the shoe part fit my foot
which just swam in the boot
The shaft width is the same size as my calves
but the shaft narrows above the ankle so much that I could not zip the boot (plus
my ankles are skinnier than my calves
which did not help the swimming feet issue)
I did not like the look
style
or the leather
and I do not plan to sample other boots from this company
I lucked out with a couple pair of Ros Hommerson boots
which were available with a super wide calf and M width
