A decision probably affected by the fact that his father was murdered in North Carolina in the summer of 1993 just before he won his third championship.The shoe being released was plain and sturdy and was the first model that Michael did not wear in an NBA seasonal game (due to the retirement). The sole had lots of details and a large 23 was stitched at the back of the shoe.The Air Jordan 9 has been the shoe chosen to adorn Jordan's feet for his statue outside of the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.In popular culture, in the children's movie The Little Rascals one of the bullies, Butch is wearing a pair of Air Jordan IX.American Rap Icon Tupac Shakur was also known to wear Air Jordan Shoes in a popular "Thug Life" photo set in 1993.

Great sneakers! Shaped for women's feet (unlike the Converse Chuck Taylors) so NOT wide and clunky Just wore them non-stop on a 10 day vacation -- with jeans shorts skirts and they look great!
