Bottom plate produces a secure base for heel-to-toe transition. The columns control impact by collapsing quickly at first, and then slowly returning to their original height. I orderd an 85W which should be perfect - and it is definitely a "wicked stepsister" fit They are gorgeous and I still need to go to the ball (well out to dinner) so I'm going to send these back and go up a full size I just have to keep remembering "It's not the NUMBER SIZE of the shoe but it's the FIT that counts" :-) I gave them one start in the comfort area but they are really cushy so I am sure they will be comfortable once I get the correct size

My 3 year old finds them comfortable; however the patent leather looks a bit cheap and they fasten with an old fashioned buckle Too hard for a 3 year old to do A velcro fastener would have been more convenient

I knew from the moment I read the other reviews that these were the shoes for me!
